Business energy
Business electricity, matched to how you use it.
We look at your current load (how much you use, when, and on what meter) and your contract, then recommend the supplier on our panel that fits.
What we do
Load review
Your usage pattern, peaks and meter type, so the contract suits how you actually use energy.
Supplier recommendation
Prices from suppliers on our panel, with our recommendation and the reasons for it, in writing.
Renewal tracking
We note your contract end date and contact you well before it, so you don’t roll onto higher out-of-contract rates.
What we look at
- Unit rates and standing charges
- Capacity (kVA) charges on larger sites
- Climate Change Levy and VAT treatment
- Contract end dates and notice periods
- Whether your meter type suits your usage
What we need from you
- A recent bill or invoice for each site
- Your contract end date, if you know it
- For energy and gas, a signed Letter of Authority so we can see your usage and contract
- Someone who can approve a new contract
You decide whether to go ahead. Nothing changes until you sign. Part of Utilities.

£ per day
Standing charge
A fixed daily charge for being connected to the supply, whatever you use.
It is charged even when your site is closed, so it matters most for sites with low usage.
pence per kWh
Unit rate
The price for each unit of energy you use. Some contracts have different day and night rates.
Check the rate against your contract. Rates can change when a contract ends.
kVA, larger sites
Capacity charge
For larger sites, a charge based on the maximum capacity you have agreed with your network.
If the agreed capacity is higher than you really need, you may be paying for capacity you never use.
included in rates
Network and policy costs
Costs of moving energy to your site and of government energy policies, usually built into your rates.
These are largely set outside your supplier, but they are part of why two bills differ.
some businesses
Climate Change Levy
A tax on energy used by many businesses. Some uses, such as domestic-type use, can be exempt or reduced.
Worth checking that the right treatment is applied to your sites.
on the total
VAT
Applied to the total. The rate depends on how the energy is used and how much.
If you think the wrong rate is being applied, it is worth asking.
General guide only. Your own contract and bills may differ.
Questions
When can I switch?
Usually in the run-up to your contract end date. Many contracts let you agree a new one months before the end.
Will my supply be interrupted?
No. Switching supplier changes who bills you, not the cables or the meter.
What is a Letter of Authority?
A signed form that lets us ask your current supplier for your usage and contract details. You can withdraw it at any time.
